                                            Water treatment at a glance

                                            Water treatment consists of several mechanical and chemical processes that aim to remove water contaminants or reduce their concentration in order to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use.

                                            The contaminants can be solid or dissolved and include metals and minerals, organic substances, viruses, bacteria, fungi…

                                            Water treatment technologies are used to treat water intended for drinking, recycling or water discharges to be released in the environment. They can also be employed to prevent corrosion, scaling and bacterial development in various industrial processes. Water is a precious resource and water regulations are very stringent.

                                            For industries, municipalities and water utility companies, Air?Liquide offers ASPAL?, a range of dedicated solutions for drinking water, cooling water and waste water treatment.

                                            ASPAL? is the result of a longstanding work with our customers to understand their challenges and specific needs. ASPAL? leverages our know-how in:

                                            Drinking water. Our ASPAL??Pure solution covers gas applications and equipment used for treating drinking water. It includes carbon dioxide injection for calco-carbonic equilibrium, oxygen and ozone oxidation for disinfection.

                                            Waste water treatment. Our ASPAL??Clean offer relates to the introduction of pure oxygen into biological basins with in-house gas injectors, instead of using the traditional air blowing technology. In addition, advanced oxidation treatments with ozone can be implemented to treat wastewater more effectively and discard less mud at the tail end of activated sludge treatments (sludge reduction).

                                            Cooling water. Replacing liquid chemical acids with the dissolution of carbon dioxide in cooling water helps prevent or eliminate scale in the cooling circuits. With ASPAL??Cool, we offer a cost-effective and efficient solution to substitute or complement hazardous chemical anti-scaling treatments.

                                            pH control. The replacement of mineral acids by carbon dioxide makes pH control safer and friendlier to the environment.
